India and Kenya to boost cooperation

Earlier this month, India and Kenya have agreed to increase their cooperation in the defense and healthcare sector as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his States visit as part of a four nation African tour.

Although the partnership is primarily focused on defense strategies, there is an important close regarding healthcare. Prime Minister Modi said during the meetings:

I understand that health care is President Uhuru’s key priority, India’s strength, especially in pharmaceuticals, can join hands with your priorities to shape an affordable and efficient health care system in Kenya.”  Adding that this would make Kenya a regional medical hub.

With a strong presence of Indian companies in the Kenyan market, Prime Minister Modi has recognised that Kenya is one of the strongest economies of the African continent. To further boost the cooperation, India has provided the Kenyatta National Hospital with a state of the art device made in India used to treat cancer patients as well as more over 30 field ambulances that will be used by the armed forces.
