Universal health care: the affordable dream

“Universal healthcare is often presented as an idealistic goal that remains out of reach for all but the richest nations. That’s not the case”, writes Amartya Sen. “Look at what has been achieved in Rwanda, Thailand and Bangladesh “

The Guardian ran a piece by Amartya Sen on how  universal health coverage can be achieved in poor countries. He  draws on  lessons from pioneering low-income countries like Thailand, Rwanda and Bangladesh, all of which have been able to achieve quality health care for all at an affordable cost with remarkable results. Amartya Sen also makes several economic arguments for why poor countries can afford to implement UHC.
