Aadhar: India’s national identity scheme may revolutionise health delivery

Millions are queuing up to enroll but there is little legislation to regulate such a massive data collection exercise. The world is watching India’s great experiment because it could transform the way that health and poverty alleviation programmes are delivered. However, as one critic warns, in a national identity programme based on fingerprints, you can never reset your password. If your identity is stolen, you may face a lifetime of exclusion from services.
